Hazem’s journey in woodworking began in his hometown of Cairo, Egypt, where he started tinkering with light fixtures made from unique mediums like drift wood and rope. His hobby soon became his passion as he began making shelves and tables, each incorporating the natural beauty of wood with modern design and functionality. In Cairo, Hazem co-founded “El Warshah” (The Workshop) in 2015, where he created custom furniture and décor for homes and commercial businesses. In 2018, Hazem left Egypt and moved to Rhode Island where his wife, Kella, and their dog, Hoss, help him run HB Woodworks.

We are a small shop, not a production line, so each piece gets our full attention and care, starting with selecting just the right wood to transform into unique and functional art. We search locally and internationally for salvageable logs and slabs, looking for the natural imperfections and flaws that deserve to be seen. Each piece of wood is then kiln-dried and treated for long lasting durability and quality. Finally, the wood is hand-crafted and finished with an attention to detail that you can’t find in stores. Whether complemented by colorful resin or standing out on its own, the striking detail of live edge wood speaks for itself.

From small projects like personalized charcuterie boards to larger custom dining tables or vanities, we will work with you at every step to create your one-of-a-kind dream piece.
